Today’s lesson, experience, and invitation center around the concept of Restitution and Reconciliation.
I am grateful for the concept of repairing or reconciling wrongs that I have done to others. It brings great peace when I am able to approach a person that I have wronged in one way or another and acknowledge that wrong, strive to make that wrong right, and ask forgiveness with no expectations of what their response will be. There are times when these wrongs just cannot be reconciled in this life for whatever reason. This can be something that troubles (and rightfully so) a person. I take comfort in the following truth.
“Men cannot forgive their own sins; they cannot cleanse themselves from the consequences of their sins. Men can stop sinning and can do right in the future, and so far their acts are acceptable before the Lord and worthy of consideration. But who shall repair the wrongs they have done to themselves and to others, which it seems impossible for them to repair themselves? By the atonement of Jesus Christ the sins of the repentant shall be washed away; though they be crimson they shall be made white as wool. This is the promise given to you” - Joseph F. Smith.
My experience is that the offended party, whether that is me or someone that I have wronged, can be made whole through the atonement of Jesus Christ.
Today’s invitation is to think of someone that I have wronged in my life (Know) and to reach out to them and make an attempt at making restitution to them for that wrong. (Do)
* The premise of Journey Through Life is to share my personal experiences of faith and hope, and tie those to either a verse of scripture from one of many sources that people all over the world consider as inspired and holy, or a quote from Godly and inspired men and women from throughout history. From these experiences and sources, I will then issue an invitation to myself, and in turn the audience, to Do what is now Known.
I do not pretend to be an expert on doctrine or on any of the subject matters that will be shared. I only claim to be one of God’s children, walking through life, striving to do God’s will for me, and sharing what I experience.

As always, my experience is that the Key to peace and happiness in life, is Knowing Jesus Christ and Doing as He teaches.
